A Message from the Post Commander

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, created in 1899 in Columbus, Ohio, by veterans of the Spanish-American War, is devoted to the rehabilitation of disabled veterans, takes an active part in Veterans issues, protection of national security through maximum military strength, and promotion of patriotism and community service activity.
In communities across the nation, the VFW is helping America's defenders and their families. It provides scholarship programs through the Voice of Democracy and Americanism programs. The VFW Post 9473 is an active member of the community, participating in a number of Reynoldsburg and other central Ohio community events.
Our Color Guard provides the Military Honors at Veterans Funerals, flag ceremonies, and parades.Our Ladies and Men's Auxiliaries are an active and important part of the Post. If you think you are eligible, or want more information on them please contact the respective Auxiliary.
One of the most important and moving events we do is the annual Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Vigil. This takes place the 3rd Friday in September and lasts all night. If you are interested, please attend the opening ceremonies (1900 hrs) or the closing ceremonies (0730 the following morning).
If you are an eligible veteran looking for a Post home, stop over and meet us. We would love to have you as a member.
